Potentially dangerous asteroid 2016 JG12 will fly near the Earth on November 20. This is reported by the NASA Center for the Study of Near-Earth Objects.
The report says that the space object will fly close to the planet at a distance of 5.5 million kilometers. The asteroid's speed is 7.48 kilometers per second.
It is noted that the size of 2016 JG12 ranges from 83 to 190 meters. According to the British edition of the Daily Star, the size of the celestial body exceeds the size of the London Eye.
The space object was first discovered on May 3, 2016. NASA believes that the asteroid will fly close to Earth several times over the next decades. However, in the future it will no longer be as close to the planet as in November 2021.
Earlier, representatives of the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics said that the potentially dangerous asteroid 2021 UL17 was heading towards Earth. According to the agency, the celestial object flew past the Earth on November 11 this year.
