On Saturday, August 6, the first vessel under the flag of another state arrived in the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk for the first time since the beginning of the Russian military special operation, said Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov, Reuters reports.
This is a Fulmar S vessel flying the flag Barbados, he said. The Minister noted that Kyiv is making every effort to increase the throughput in Ukrainian ports. “We plan to reach the level of at least three to five ships a day in two weeks,” — Kubrakov added.
According to the VesselFinder portal, this ship can carry up to 13.4 thousand tons of payload.
Russia and Ukraine agreed on the export of Ukrainian grain on July 22, mediated by the UN and Turkey. The parties agreed to create a safe sea corridor for the passage of commercial ships with grain from Chernomorsk, Odessa and Yuzhny. Official Moscow guaranteed the safe passage of dry cargo ships and promised not to use the situation for military purposes.
In early August, three ships (Navistar, Rojen and Polarnet) left Ukrainian ports and went with grain to Istanbul. Kyiv clarified that dry cargo ships would transport corn.
The Joint Coordinating Center allowed four vessels with food from Chernomorsk and Odessa to leave on Sunday, August 7, the UN press service reported. It is planned to send more than 161 thousand tons of food on ships.
